His political career began during the Anna Hazare-led India Against Corruption movement in 2011, where he co-founded AAP and served as the party's first national treasurer. He subsequently served as MLA from Rajendra Nagar constituency and Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board, where he implemented 24x7 water supply systems. Currently, he serves on Parliament's Standing Committee on Finance.
